So we’re back with another life changing food film.
I just finished a movie called “Food.” I'm big on animals…unfortunately I haven’t reached the level of going cold turkey from eating them but this film made me want to change that. The animals in this film were treated so disgustingly and disrespectful.
In the movie you can see various encounters with animals and farmers. When I think of farmers, I think of sweet, gentle and humble people who like to raise animals, unfortunately that's not always the case. The farmers were seen letting cows sit in their own poop and bodily fluids. That made my stomach absolutely turn, thinking about me personally eating beef and seeing how they’re being treated made me want to go completely vegetarian. Also, after watching I realized how much we rely on corn in America. I had a little bit of knowledge on corn and how its used but to actually come to an understanding on that its the reason why high fructose corn syrup is in almost eveything, High fructose corn syrup also contributes to diabetes, inflammation, high triglycerides and something we call non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. The fact that most people don’t know this information is scary! What we’re eating is potentially getting us sick, or death.
I constantly heard the word “engineered”. When I think of engineered, I think of mechanical. When I think of my food I think of natural produced, not mechanical. In the film there was some evidence on how the government is money hungry… which we knew, but running away small family farms is a disgrace to America and what we stand for.
If Americans were aware of what's going on behind the scenes on the way our food is being processed and the way the animals are treated I think we’d stand to make a change, for the sake of the animals, ourselves and future generations.
